Frequently Asked Questions

General
What kind of Income Protection is offered at SAP?

In a case of long term illness you will receive your normal salary in full for the first 13 weeks, provided you have passed your probationary period and are a permanent SAP employee.

Thereafter if you meet the eligibility criteria, the company’s Permanent Health Insurance scheme will come into effect and you will be provided with a benefit of 66% of your annual base salary only.

Where eligible, based on medical evidence, the income protection benefit will be paid for as long as an employee is absent from work up to the age of 67.

What percentage of my salary will income protection reimburse?

You will receive 66% of your base salary only, and will not receive any flex benefits allowance during periods of long term sick leave.

How long will income protection be paid if I suffer a disability?

Where eligible, based on medical evidence, the income protection benefit will be paid for as long as you are absent from work up to the age of 67.

If I return on a part-time basis or for periods during my illness when I am able to work, will my benefits be paid?

The Permanent Health Insurance scheme will require that in the event of a claim, you provide medical evidence which may continue at regular intervals throughout the period of your absence from work. If you become well enough to start work again in a reduced capacity, your benefits will be reduced to take account of your reduced working time and salary.
